There are two civics tests. The date you filed Form N-400 picks the test. If you filed before October 20, 2025, you take the 2008 test. The officer asks up to 10 questions. You need 6 right. If you filed on or after October 20, 2025, you take the 2025 test. The officer asks up to 20 questions from a list of 128. You need 12 right. You also take an English test, unless an exception applies. You must speak, read, and write some basic English. Do not buy a secret list. The official questions are free on the government website.
