A new citizen applies for a U.S. passport in person. Bring the original certificate and a copy.
Lesson words
A U.S. passport proves you are a citizen when you travel. It is not from USCIS. It is from the Department of State. A first adult passport is usually done in person. You take your original Certificate of Naturalization. You also take a photocopy. You take a photo ID. You take the passport photo they ask for. You fill out the official passport form. Use travel.state.gov. That site ends with .gov. Do not pay a travel shop for a guaranteed same-day government passport unless it is a real passport office. Keep your certificate after they copy it. Ask when they will mail it back.
This is education. It is not legal advice. Only USCIS decides your case. Government forms are free at uscis.gov.
