Do not register to vote until you are a U.S. citizen. Then use vote.gov.
Lesson words
U.S. citizens may vote. Green card holders may not vote in federal elections. Do not register before the Oath. Registering too early can cause serious trouble. Some ceremonies help you register the same day. If you already registered there, you may be done. If not, go to vote.gov and pick your state. Each state has its own rules. Each state has its own deadline. You must be a citizen. You must be old enough. You must follow your state’s home rules. Vote only in your real name, at your real address.
This is education. It is not legal advice. Only USCIS decides your case. Government forms are free at uscis.gov.
