If your case is not simple, get real help. Here is how to know it is real. A lawyer must have a U.S. law license that is active. You can look up that license in the state bar. An accredited representative works for a nonprofit that the Department of Justice recognizes. You can look at the official DOJ list. A notary is not that person. A tax preparer is not that person. A person with a nice office and no license is not that person. Ask three questions. Are you a licensed U.S. lawyer? Or are you on the DOJ accredited list? Will you give me a written contract and a receipt? If they get angry at those questions, walk out.
